Whispers of Love, Hope, & Joy is an experienced nonprofit that empowers survivors of domestic violence through hope and compassion. We walk alongside women through the court processes, emotional ups and downs of daily living, and connect them to other community resources that meet their needs. We’ve identified that building long-term relationships is the key to healing and success. We get to know the unique strengths of our women, involve them in tasks that are fulfilling, and empower them to use their skills to build a healing foundation of self-esteem.

In 2017, Pastor Deb Rensink, an ordained minister in the Reformed Church of America, left church ministry because she felt called to be involved in the spiritual lives of women healing from domestic violence. This was how Whispers of Love Hope and Joy was born. At first, this ministry operated wherever the need arose, we served women in coffee shops, and city parks, we attended court dates with them. Since then, we have assisted over 100 victims of domestic violence to escape their situations and learn to be courageous and successful.

Our mission, as Christ's ambassadors, is to support survivors as they create new meaning for a wonderful life going forward. Our vision is to restore human dignity to survivors of intimate partner violence by offering hope, compassion and healing, so that life sustaining skills are rebuilt.

In April 2023, we purchased property that had previously been assisted living. This property became theTalitha Koum Healing Campus, designed to be a restorative community that promotes whole-person healing for our residents. Our space has two family apartments, and six studio apartments, with a robust security system to make sure our residents feel safe and comfortable. The Healing Campus also has a community area that hosts support groups and skill building sessions, covering topics like financial health and setting healthy emotional boundaries.

Our first survivors moved in in September 2024, after we installed a security system. During the June 2024 flooding, the apartments were used as temporary housing for Hope Haven patrons.

Since September, our residents have experienced astronomical spiritual and emotional growth, and we are so thankful to be able to walk alongside our survivors in this new way.

Join us in reducing debt on this space which is so vital to our ministry!
